Special Program at Care Home

Over the weekend, we co-hosted a special program at one of the care homes we regularly work with. This event focused on promoting international-mindedness, with people from a variety of different countries coming together to teach the children how to cook international cuisine.

The day began with a presentation on the session’s focus country—Turkey—covering its history, culture, and unique characteristics. The children not only learned a lot but also enjoyed a fun and interactive quiz at the end.

We then moved on to the cooking activity, where the children challenged themselves to make menemen, a famous Turkish breakfast dish. The children and careworkers were amazed and mentioned how surprised they were that such healthy vegetables could make such a delicious dish.

At the end of the day, we created a simple yet meaningful piece of art. Everyone who participated in the event—including children, careworkers, and volunteers—added their handprints to a shared poster, symbolizing the unity of different cultures.

Overall, the event was filled with joy and multicultural spirit, and the children enjoyed every moment of it! A big thank you to JICEF and YouMeWe for co-hosting this wonderful event with us!
