Primary School Division

The PYP Division of Project Kaizen aims to get students to become better global citizens through inter-school events that allow students to develop critically thinking and different perspectives on the ongoing global issues in society.

Please note that currently, the only available project which will start from September 2024 is specifically dedicated towards Grade 4 students.

The G4 Project

A Pathway Towards the PYP Exhibition

The G4 Project is a unique initiative within Youth For Future (YFF) that integrates a debate about global issues with community-focused action. This project engages Grade 4 students in a two-part program, promoting critical thinking about global issues which will lead into encouraging these students fundraising for a school community that has been impacted by the specific issue explored during the inter-school debate.

01

Global Issues Orientated Debate

This event inspired by Model United Nations enables students to collaborate and think critically about global issues whilst gaining numerous perspectives from other participants. On the day, each student will be representing a specific country and will be split into groups where they will be tasked to come up with a solution for a global issue and topic that we provide to the teachers who are responsible for providing to their students beforehand.

02

Fundraising and Community Action

After the MUN-inspired debate competition, students enter a comprehensive fundraising period spanning several months. The primary objective of this fundraising effort is to secure funds specifically allocated to supporting the school community that has been identified as affected by the global issue explored in the MUN debate. The funds raised play a crucial role in implementing tangible and impactful initiatives within the identified community, addressing the challenges associated with the global issue under consideration.

03

Fundraising and Community Action

The culminating event serves as a pivotal platform for students to showcase the dedicated efforts they invested in fundraising for the school community highlighted as in need during the MUN debate (a PYP Exhibition like demonstration). Through the presentation of photos and videos at the event, students gain a firsthand view of the positive changes brought about by their fundraising initiatives within the identified school community.

1

Community

Through the different YFF branches established in schools all around Japan, we believe that while getting students aware of the importance of student agency, we can also create a positive impact towards the educational institutions in underdeveloped countries.

2

Responsibility

While we take responsibility for shaping the leaders of the next generation, we are committed to instilling a sense of responsibility in students as well, empowering them to make informed decisions and contribute positively to society.

3

Passion

We are driven by a passion for education and its potential to create positive change. Our enthusiasm fuels our efforts to make a meaningful impact on the quality of education and inspire a lifelong love for learning.

- Overview of the G4 Project -

Overall, the G4 Project operates within a well-structured framework, consisting of three key components throughout the year. The global issue based debate in October fosters critical thinking and global issue awareness among Grade 4 students, encouraging creative solutions and diverse perspectives. Following this, the fundraising and community action period from November to March aims to translate theoretical discussions into practical contributions for a specific school community affected by the debated global issue. The final community event in April serves as a culmination, showcasing the tangible impact of students' efforts and celebrating their commitment to positive change.
